What is a Flannel Aloha Shirt?

Think Hawaiian shirt meets New England winter.

We took the colorful, laid-back designs you’d normally find on an Aloha shirt and put them on soft, 100% cotton flannel. The result is a flannel that feels familiar but looks like nothing else in your closet.

Is it actually flannel?

Yep. These aren't Hawaiian shirts printed to look like flannel. They're made from 100% cotton flannel with a soft, brushed feel.

How heavy are the flannels?

Our flannels are designed to hit the sweet spot — substantial enough for chilly fall days and winter layering without feeling like you're wearing a jacket.

Wear it buttoned up, throw it over a T-shirt, or layer it under a jacket when it gets really cold.

How do Kona flannels fit?

Our men's flannels have a comfortable, everyday fit that gives you room to move without feeling oversized or boxy.

If you're between sizes or like a roomier fit, we'd recommend sizing up.

Do you make women's flannels?

Yes! We offer select Kona designs in a women's-specific fit.

Make sure you're shopping the men's or women's version of the design you want, as the sizing and fit are different.

I'm buying one as a gift. What size should I get?

Kona flannels make a pretty great gift — and we know guessing someone's shirt size isn't always easy.

Your safest bet is to check the size of a flannel or button-down they already own. If they're between sizes or you're unsure, we'd generally recommend going with the larger size.

And if you don't nail it? No worries. As long as the flannel meets our return/exchange requirements, we'll help get them into the right size.

Will my flannel shrink?

Because our flannels are 100% cotton, a little shrinkage is possible — especially if you put them in a hot dryer.

For the best fit and longest life, wash cold and hang dry.

Orders, Shipping & Returns

When will my order ship?

For in-stock items, we work to get orders packed and on their way as quickly as possible.

Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with tracking information so you can follow it all the way to your door.

If an item is a pre-order, its expected shipping timeframe will be listed on the product page.

How do pre-orders work?

Sometimes a design sells faster than we can make more of them.

When that happens, we may open a pre-order so you can reserve your size from the next batch before it arrives.

The estimated shipping timeframe will always be listed on the product page. If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, check the product and shipping information for details on when your order will be fulfilled.

Can I return or exchange my order?

Yes. We want you to love your Kona gear.

Eligible items can be returned within 30 days of receiving your order. Items must be unworn, unused, with tags attached, and in their original condition.

About Kona

What makes Kona Brand different?

It started with a pretty simple problem: why are winter clothes so boring?

Kona was born in New England, where Zac wanted something that had the warmth of the flannels he wore all winter but the personality of the Hawaiian shirts he loved wearing all summer.

So he combined the two.

Today, Kona makes clothes for people who would rather stand out than blend in — and who wouldn't mind carrying a little bit of summer with them year-round.

Why is it called Kona Brand?

Kona was Zac's rescue dog and the original namesake of the brand.

She was there when Kona Brand started as a high school project in 2018, and her name stuck.

She's no longer with us, but she's still a huge part of what the brand stands for.

Does Kona Brand support rescue dogs?

Absolutely.

Rescue dogs have been part of Kona's story since day one, which is why we donate 10% of our profits to helping rescue dogs find loving homes.

Every Kona purchase helps us keep that mission going.

Where is Kona Brand based?

We're a small, independent New England brand based in Massachusetts.

No giant corporate office. Just a small business trying to make really good flannels, have some fun doing it, and leave things a little better than we found them.
